Andrew Paull, Partner

With over 14 years’ experience in class actions, Andrew has demonstrated expertise in a wide range of claims, including consumer actions, complex commercial cases and common law personal injury claims.

The cases in which Andrew has acted for plaintiffs have been at the cutting edge of Australian jurisprudence and have resulted in more than half a billion dollars in settlements, vindicating the rights of many thousands of his clients and group members.

His experience includes:

  • running class actions against the big-four Australian banks based on the alleged mis-selling of ‘junk insurance’ to vulnerable consumers (across four class actions, which settled for a total of over $175m);

  • the Manus Island class action (settled for $70m plus costs);

  • the Centro shareholder class action, which was the largest shareholder class action settlement in Australian history;

  • other successful class actions brought by shareholders as against GPT ($75m), Newcrest ($36m), Vocation Limited and PricewaterhouseCoopers ($50m) and Murray Goulburn ($42m);

  • acting for shareholders in a class action brought against Brambles Limited (judgment pending);

  • acting for asylum seekers in a first-of-its-kind representative privacy complaint against the Department of Home Affairs, which led to a compensation determination in favour of thousands of complainants.

Andrew’s work reflects his commitment to providing access to justice for all and holding the powerful to account.

In 2018, Andrew was recognised by Doyle’s Guide as a ‘Rising Star - Litigation, Dispute Resolution & Insolvency’ and, in 2021, by legal publication, Lawyerly, as a ‘Litigation Rising Star’. In 2023 and 2024, Andrew was listed in Doyle’s Guide as a Leading Class Action Lawyer, Australia.
